Kathy Joann Stricker died peacefully on July 2, 2024 at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, following a bravely fought battle with cancer. Her courage throughout her illness was a lesson on resilience and perseverance as her strength shone brightly. This surprises no one who knew Kathy, as that is how she lived her entire life.

Small but mighty, Kathy was a force when it came to her lifelong involvement in athletics as a player and a coach. Her determination to make meaningful change for athletes started in high school at Silver Creek (Sellersburg, IN) where she advocated for gender equality and inclusion in sports as a student-athlete. This same determination carried her through Franklin College, where she majored in education, and earned 17 athletic letters. Her 45-year career as a teacher and coach at Franklin Central High School embodied her competitive spirit, where she created a purpose-driven, yet fun atmosphere.

Kathyɫ�����ֱ���s myriad of wins and honors include Franklin College Athletics Hall of Fame, 2 IHSAA Championship Runners-Up Appearances, Indiana High School Coaches (Softball) Hall of Fame Induction, Franklin Central High School Softball Field & Complex Dedication, Silver Creek Outstanding Alumnus Award, multiple Coach of the Year Awards, and many more.

Kathy was predeceased by her brother, Larry Stricker, and her parents, Everett ɫ�����ֱ���Budɫ�����ֱ��� Stricker, and Freida Stricker. Survivors include sisters, Rita (Bob) Hake, Shirley (Wayne) Wells, brother, Donnie (Jennifer) Stricker, nieces and nephews, Shellie Hodge, Audrey Hayman, Ginny Williams, Sam Stricker, Zac Stricker, and many friends who were like family.

Visitation will be Friday, July 5 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street (U.S. 31 North), in Franklin, IN. The memorial service will be Saturday, July 6 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home (with additional visitation time from noon-1:00). In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Franklin Central High School Athletic Department for the Kathy Stricker Memorial and can be received at the funeral home, by the family, or mailed to: 6215 S Franklin Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46259.
