Jewell E. LaRue, 96 passed to her heavenly home on Tuesday, June 18 surrounded by her loving family. Jewell was born in Indianapolis on April 21, 1928, to her parents Gilbert and Esther Pyles. She attended Crispus Attucks High School and graduated with the class of 1945.

Jewell was baptized at Barnes United Methodist Church at the age of 13.

In 1945, Jewell headed to Indiana State University but cut college short to come home to assist her parents. In 1951, she married the love of her life, Robert LaRue.

Both Robert and Jewell, joined Witherspoon Presbyterian Church in 1962, after the birth of their two daughters, because of their strong desire to have the family sit together on Sunday for worship.

During her 62 years, her church commitment was strong. She was an Elder, Deacon, President of the Women of Witherspoon, Moderator for Presbyterian Women of Witherspoon, Eunice Circle leader, Vacation Bible School teacher, Sunday school teacher, Honorary life member in Presbyterian Women Presbyterian Church USA, and Elected by Whitewater Valley Presbytery to serve as commissioner for the 213th general assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA, served as a delegate to the National meeting of Presbyterian Women. She chaired fundraisers, the Capital Improvement campaign, women色戒成人直播檚 day programs, usher, and the homecoming chair.

Jewell completed her Associate Degree from Indiana University Purdue University and went on to retire from LaRue D. Carter Memorial Hospital. After retirement, she was a realtor/broker, school secretary for School 43, office manager for Robert LaRue and Associates, secretary for North Central High School, Secretary for Crooked Creek School, Property manager for the family properties, and tutor for the Oasis and Reading Tudor program.

Jewell was extremely dedicated to her community and giving back. She volunteered at the Flanner House, Children色戒成人直播檚 Museum, and Indianapolis Art Museum.

She actively participated in the following organizations: Jack and Jill of America, Book Lovers Book Club, Platinum member of the Indianapolis chapter of Links, Incorporated, Red Hatters, Crispus Attucks Retirement Club, 50-year member of the Kappa Silhouettes, Robin Run retirement community Ebony and Ivory committee and Chapel.

Left to celebrate her life, are her daughter Collette LaRue Duvalle (Reginald), brother Jim Pyles (Vernease), and grandchildren, Robert Ragland, Reggie Duvalle, and Lauryn Duvalle. Great grandchild, Sebastien Joyner. Nieces and nephews, Pam Walker (Clifford), Patrice Barnes, Karen Johnson, Fred and Howard Perry. A host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death, by her husband Robert precious daughter Denise, and brother John Pyles.

A visitation for Jewell will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Witherspoon Presbyterian Church, 3535 Kessler Blvd N Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46222, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM.
