Lenwood Udell Embry passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024 surrounded by family and friends. Lenwood was born on April 15, 1943 to Roy Embry and Cardella Carr in Sulpher Wall, Kentucky. He relocated from Marion to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1972. Lenwood was a "life simple pleasures" man. Always willing to help family and friends or anyone who needed advice or direction. Taking pride in his yard and barbecuing those tender/tasty ribs that he would treat to family and friends. He was an avid sports lover and played tennis on a regular basis. He loved watching professional tennis matches whenever they aired. Sometimes traveling to watch the "grand slam" sisters, Venus and Serena Williams compete. Loved his jazz music. Many evenings you would find Lenwood in his basement trying to emulate his favorite jazz artist on his keyboard and saxophone. He will be extremely missed. Lenwood was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Everett Odell Embry and James Embry, and one sister, Lucille Embry. He is survived by his wife, Iris Joann Embry, and two sons, Marc Embry and Ryan Embry, his sisters Shirley Levi and Pansy Bailey (Edward). A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Light of the World Christian Church, 4646 North Michigan Road, Indianapolis, IN. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with the funeral immediately following.
